Meeting the Neighborhoods
Growing up, my dad was our neighborhood association president and sat on the parks board, which they now call a commission. The city park, felt like it was an extension of my front yard, and we treated it as such. If it got dirty after an Easter weekend, we put on our gloves and picked up the trash. I have great respect for our neighborhood associations in District 1 and have the pleasure of meeting neighborhood association presidents like Mr. Robert Sandoval, President of Montoya Heights Neighborhood Association. I participated in their summer BBQ, they have a beautiful park that they take care of and it is so nice that there is yoga there almost on a daily basis. This park is the gem of the neighborhood and the center of the community. For this reason, it is so important to me that we fund park upgrades and neighborhood safety measures.
